Guest Speaker
District 6250 Governor Bill Prichard

Bill mentioned that Lodi is doing “Pints for Polio” with ice cream pints.

This is his 39th virtual meeting and 312th club meeting since working with District.

Things have changed since Covid.  He was supposed to be on a friendship exchange to Russia in July but was cancelled

He believes that rotary will be bigger and better in 2 to 3 years because of the current circumstances.

He said we are entering the third epoch of Rotary
First was 1905-47 which changed when Paul Harris death kickstarted the foundation.
It changed again when women joined Rotary in 1987.
2020 will begin the next epoch.  He believes the two major forces of change will be Jennifer Jones (Canada) as the  new President and the use of Zoom meetings.  This will change the old model of meeting for a meal and having a speaker. (so 1950’s)   He feels that the virtual element will open doors for membership.  Virtual opportunity to keep more people engaged.

He says that we should take time to relocate, dust off and reengage in our strategic plan.  “What do we want to be?”  Once we have the “WHY?” then the rest will fall into place.  “Find out who we need to be now.”

Some clubs have decided that they will never meet in person again.  He suggest we try different things.

He listed some things that we are doing right:
MH club exceeded our pledged giving to foundation, however only 16 of our members were supporting.

... and some things we are doing wrong....
Retention of new members…we’ve lost 7 of our new members after less than 3 years of membership.  We must build a program to let them stick.

only 38% of our members are women

regarding having People under 40, our percentage is pathetic.  Look for young professional group in chamber

Three things that we need to do....
Show support to president
Utilize Assistant Governor
Recognize “yes people”.

Club Yes person of the year , named by Bill, is Steve Helwig
