Dixie has programs for March & April (3rd Wednesdays). If you have ideas for upcoming presenters, please let her know. The club made a point of how much they like to hear from Dr. Linnea Smith.
We do not have final dollar amount for the Valentine fundraiser but should know by next week. One of the topics at the Board Meeting will be how to allocate the fundraiser profits.
Susan and Brent are finalizing the notes from the Planning Session and hope to have them ready by next week.
Judy visited with her friend “Rotary Nancy” (Nancy Rhodes, a past District Governor from the Milwaukee area). She reported that there is only one new concerning case of Polio which was found in Afghanistan.* She also told of the recreation of the first Rotary meeting site. “
Room 711” in Evanston, IL.!
Peggy said that she is stocking her bar in anticipation of eventually having a party. We discussed various (alcoholic) requirements of a home bar as well as the shelf life of Saki.
Jim asked, “How do we help people get Covid shots”. Peggy told of some Facebook groups that are working on that and other community aids. Paul told that teachers are on the second tier and would not get on a list until March. Things are going very slow but will get better with the Johnson & Johnson vaccine having just been approved. We had a long conversation about who has had shots, who are waiting and what the timeline is like. Paul shared the following links:
Paul also shared a picture of his daughters who built a snowman entitled “Snowman lost his contact!”
Will we have a golf outing this year? Brent is checking into it. Peggy suggested that we have family oriented side activities for non-golfers. Bingo, Badminton, croquet, and lawn golf were suggested.
We have a “5th Wednesday” in March so Heidi is working on a fun idea for us.
Shawn “walked” us around her remodeling project. It is a big project with ripped out walls. She learned how to install the flooring. We’re all looking forward to a big party.
Susan is looking for someone to do a pig roast for her daughters’ rehearsal dinner in June. Everyone said, “check with Peter”.
Peggy checked with the group to see if the links for Dr. Linnea Smiths’ talk last week were working. Several people viewed the videos and showed them to friends. Brent says that he gets a report letting him know that people are viewing it. Good Deal!
